Hardwood Decks

Decks make summer complete and whether you're poolside, snoozing in a hammock, or kickin' back with an ice box of cold ones there's no better place to be when the sun comes out. So both for your own satisfaction, for those perfect family moments, and for entertaining your friends you want that deck to be a source of pride. Which is why so many of our customers choose a pure hardwood deck for the authentic look and feel of real wood. Because you want that look and feel to last without losing its sheen that also means choosing hardwood and if you want hardwood then you'd best talk to the hardwood experts at Charlotte Deck Repair.  Modern hardwood decking is striking to look at with a choice of exotic woods on offer, it is longer lasting than traditional woods, and yet it actually costs less than composite or PVC alternatives. All good reasons to choose wood.

Ipe Decking

Ipe (Brazilian Walnut) is an increasingly popular choice of hardwood for decking because it comes from sustainably managed sources, it's resistant to decay, tough enough to survive heavy footfall, and has an even rich reddish brown color that's easy on the eye. Talk to Charlotte Deck Repair about choices of finish because Ipe will naturally weather to a classy silver look, or if that doesn't match your tastes or your house then we can coat it with penetrating oils to keep it rich red. Ipe is famously tough and resistant to extremes of weather and repeated soaking with water.

Garapa Decking

Garapa (Brazilian Ash) is another really popular hardwood for decking since it too is long lasting and hard wearing as well as beautiful to look at. Garapa is cheaper than Ipe and a much lighter color ranging from yellow to golden brown. Like the other hardwoods mentioned here Garapa only needs occasional washing with soapy water for maintenance.

Teak and Cumaru

Teak has long been the most desired hardwood for decking because of its rich dark color and natural oils that make sealing unnecessary. The demand for teak has led to unscrupulous tree felling in unmanaged forest so it is important to ask where teak comes from and only buy from a reputable decking company like Charlotte Deck Repair. Real teak doesn't come cheap, and for that reason we have seen the growth in popularity of Cumaru. Cumaru is another Brazilian hardwood, sometimes called Brazilian Teak or Golden Teak which gives you a clue to its color. Cumaru has a lot of the hard wearing characteristics of Ipe. Ask our wood experts at Charlotte Deck Repair for more information about just which hardwood would suit you best.

Sustainable

Ask us about sustainably harvested wood from managed forests. We don't believe in encouraging unscrupulous and short term pillaging of precious hard woods from tropical forest so we can tell you the source of any or the woods we offer for your deck. At Charlotte Deck Repair we believe in sustainably managed forestry for the sake of great decking now and for the future.
