Deck Repair & Restoration
While Charlotte Deck Repair are the experts when it comes to creating beautiful new hardwood and composite decks we also weave magic when it comes to giving new life to old decks. So much so that we've had customers come to us and ask us to quote for a whole new deck only to be pleasantly surprised when our carpenters survey showed that we could save their deck and restore it to its full beauty for a fraction of the price. We take great pleasure in extending the life of a deck and are never in a rush to tear up wood if we believe that we have the know how to make it look beautiful again. So much as we'd love to sell you a brand new deck, the first thing we do with all our customers is arrange an on site assessment of any existing decks in which we check the nature and state of the wood, the fittings, and any damage to the structure. If we know we can fix it, and we are for ever surprising customers with what we can fix, then we will always propose repair and restoration rather than starting over from scratch. Which is why you can trust Charlotte Deck Repair to do the best by you, your deck, and your budget when it comes to transforming that tired old deck into an outdoor feature you can be proud of.
Rotten Wood Replacement
Often what we find is that customers believe a whole deck has to be condemned because of patches of rot that have softened wood to the point where it becomes an eyesore and even a hazard. If the whole deck has been left for decades to its own devices that is possibly the case, but often we find that the problem is restricted to certain areas of heavy duty use or patches where improperly seasoned timber was used in construction. At Charlotte Deck Repair we are experts in skillfully removing those timbers and replacing them invisibly with properly sealed hardwood that will stand the test of time.
Often the deck is just fine but the top layer is looking tired. Not a problem for Charlotte Deck Repair where we can fine sand the top layer and reseal it to give you a perfectly smooth and beautiful deck that looks literally as good as new.
Nails that stick out are a common problem partly due to wood settling or bowing. While we always check for the causes of extruding nails and deal with those rather than just the nail we also know how to pull nails without damage and typically we replace them with weatherproof timber screws that are unlikely to ever project again like nails do.
Weather, and particularly temperature change and seasonal humidity differences will always affect wood even if it is properly weatherproofed. Cracks can open up between planks, or even in planks along the line of the grain. Where this requires replacement we will replace the timber but often we find that we can provide long lasting and invisible repairs by using wood sealant on your cracks.
